About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and results driven Senior Loans Officer to assist with overseeing the Association’s lending operations while ensuring the delivery of high-quality credit services aligned with organisational objectives, regulatory requirements, and sound risk management practices.

 

As a key member of the Loans team, you will provide direction across the lending portfolio, oversee credit administration, evaluate lending risks, and support the development of sustainable loan growth strategies. You will play a critical role in maintaining portfolio quality, strengthening member relationships, and ensuring operational efficiency within the Loans Department. This position requires strong leadership, sound credit judgment and a commitment to service excellence in a dynamic environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer any questions he/she may have about the process;
  • Analyse the potential customer’s financial status and evaluate any property the applicant will be using as collateral security;
  • Communicate with applicants to provide information or documents needed and answer any concerns they may have;
  • Operate with professionalism in compliance with the policies of the Association and adhere to all laws, regulations and lending compliance guidelines;
  • Compute loan amortisation schedules;
  • Complete loan contracts and counsel applicants on the policies of the Association;
  • Prepare loans for meetings;
  • Distribute letters for preparation of mortgages;
  • Visit sites and submit reports;
  • Call customers who are in arrears;
  • Prepare weekly updates on customer appointments;
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans;
  • Check loan payment report monthly to verify customers’ payments;
  • Deputise for the Loans Manager as necessary;
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties not specifically mentioned, but which are consistent with the job.

What You’ll Need

  • At least an Associate Degree in Finance, Business Management or related field from a recognised institution
  • BSc degree in Finance, Banking or a related field will be an asset
  • At least three (3) years working experience in the field of Finance

 

Technical & IT Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Comfortable working in a tech-driven environment and collaborating with IT teams
